TikTok Ads Manager data lives under advertiser accounts, then campaigns, ad groups, and ads. Business Centers group multiple advertiser accounts for agency workflows.

First moves

1. Advertiser accounts — list accounts the connected user can access; pin advertiser_id for the session.
2. Business centers — when the user mentions agency or multi-brand setup, list business centers before drilling into advertisers.
3. Structure — list campaigns, fetch one campaign by id, then ad groups and ads for that advertiser.
4. Audiences and pixels — list custom audiences and pixels when targeting or tracking questions come up.
5. Reporting — run integrated reports with start and end dates and metric columns for delivery questions.
6. Writes — create and update campaigns, ad groups, and ads after preview. Pause or delete when the user confirms the change.

Mutations

All writes default to preview mode. Confirm only after the user approves the payload.

Hierarchy

Business Center → Advertiser → Campaign → Ad group → Ad. Reporting can break down by campaign, ad group, or ad.

Operational order

1. Resolve advertiser_id when the user names a brand or ad account.
2. Pull campaigns (and ad groups / ads) before fetching metrics for named flights.
3. Use custom audiences and pixels when the question is retargeting or event tracking setup.
4. Use integrated reports for spend, impressions, clicks, and conversions over a date window.

Gotchas

• Advertiser scope — most reads and writes require advertiser_id even when the connection can access multiple accounts.
• Report dates — integrated reports expect YYYY-MM-DD start and end dates in the advertiser timezone.
• Pagination — campaign, ad group, and audience lists paginate; keep paging until you reach the last page or have enough rows.
• Preview-first writes — destructive status changes need explicit confirmation after the dry-run preview.
• Rate limits — TikTok throttles by app and advertiser; avoid parallel report storms on large date ranges.
